|I hope you've had a terrific riding / racing season this year!|
2012 has been a whirlwind of activity for us here at Viets Performance.
In AFM Racing, we saw more riders decide to race on Bridgestone tires with terrific results this year. Neill O'Reilly won his first race on Bridgestone tires by almost half a lap and riders including David Raff, JP Jordan, Mike Medina, Eric Sterner, Ryder Morrisson, Dave LaBree, Manuel Hernandez and 'the Sergios': Sergio Sanchez-Chopitea, Sergio Fernandez and Sergio Galvan all racked up podiums, improved results and Bridgestone Contingency
Joy Higa and Zoe Rem (pictured below) put on what I think was some of the best racing in the club, both of them dicing for the lead in AFemme class on their Bridgestone-shod GSXR1000s. Zoe won the Championship by two points but Joy was relentless in her efforts and she became the first woman to race in the no-holds-barred Formula Pacific Class! Stacy Menas locked up 5th in the AFemme championship also on Bridgestones. Congratulations ladies!
I want to thank Gary Paddock, Lance Doyle and Eric Thompson and family for all their help and support this year.
Gary has managed our race tire operations at AFM the last two years and done a fantastic job ensuring customers receive quick turnaround and perfect mount and balance.
Lance and I worked in wireless together years ago and he's been managing inbound customer requests, vendor relationships and accounting which have been a huge help this year.
Eric Thompson, in addition to winning the AFM Formula Singles championship on Bridgestone race tires, runs www.shamboozled.com and produced our crew and Rider Support shirts, vinyl graphics and other marketing materials. Everyone loves the shirts and unlike others I've had done in the past, the vinyl stays put and the shirts look great even after being worn and washed many times.
Bridgestone extended a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me to take a 2-up with Randy Mamola at the Laguna Seca MotoGP round. We rode the 230HP, 320lb Ducati MotoX2 two-seater and all I could say after getting off (once I could speak) was 'I want to ride that thing!' The acceleration and braking forces were OFF THE CHART - like nothing I have EVER experienced before. The bike was absolutely perfect mid-corner and I felt as though we could have carried twice as much corner speed without any drama!
We also supported a test with Kawasaki for the launch of their new 2013 ZX-6R (636) at Thunderhill Raceway and saw the new Bridgestone R10 180/55 EVO rears in action. The EVO features an updated compound and construction for a slightly larger contact patch and improved corner exit grip and these tires are now available in EVO Type 3 Medium and EVO Type 2 Hard in the 180/55 Battlax R10. Also new is the EVO Type 4 Soft R10 front which I rode at Thunderhill in October. There was definitely more grip available and I'm eager to have faster riders try this option in 2013.
Fresh from Japan are the new V01 Battlax slicks which use what Bridgestone has learned in MotoGP and deliver improved warm-up, handling and grip at lower loads thanks to a revised carcass construction and crown radius / roll profile. The V01 are in stock in a 120/600 Soft front and 190/650 Soft or Medium rear. Just like the current Battlax slicks, the V01 have a wide operating range and the Soft compound should work well in most conditions. Testing results from Japan show lap times dropped by a full second over current slicks!
We appreciate your business and continued support. If you have questions, need information or want to check stock / delivery time for an order, please call, email or use the Live Chat function on our website.
Looking forward to 2013!
