134DD Megaphone Exhaust for Ducati 848/1098/1198: TIG welded from thin-wall stainless steel, this system attaches to the headers of your existing stock or Termignoni headers via a new 2 into 1 junction (which is included with the 134DD). No need for cutting/welding – these parts slip on.
Developed for performance gain and weight reduction for serious track and race superbikes - the 134DD adds torque/horsepower from the mid range to top end, with huge gains over the stock system and significant gains over the Termi race system.
See the comparative dyno charts from Double Dog's extensive development program. Note that these are independent dyno tests from MCE Racing at Thunderhill Raceway, not their own.
Weight reduction and mass shift: The 134DD megaphone weighs 3lb vs the Termi race system weight of 14lb (from the same attachment point after 2-1), and the stock system is closer to 16 lbs. Most of this weight is high up under the seat – well away from the center of mass. Shedding 11 lbs or more from under the seat is a big deal, and much more important than reducing the same weight closer to the center of mass. You will feel the difference immediately, with a very different 'flickable' chassis balance - changing direction more like a lightweight 600, particularly when combined with the superlight DD2R carbon fiber monocoque tail. Power gain: In an otherwise stock 1098, the 134DD adds over 10bhp at 6,000rpm compared to the Termi race system (which is likewise stronger than the stock exhaust system). See the Dyno charts for the strong torque and horsepower gains through the midrange, converging with the Termi horsepower at peak. You will feel that kind of power/torque gain on the ‘butt dyno’ immediately….. Performance gain: It’s not all about horsepower. Combining the 134DD power gain with weight loss from high up away from the center of mass is a performance transformation. The peak torque/weight ratio jumps from 0.200 (ft/lb/lb) to 0.218 – an increase of 9%. You will feel that jump….. More performance gain: Combine the 134DD performance gain with the radical weight loss from installing DoubleDog's unique DD2R carbon fiber monocoque tail. Combined, these two parts alone shed 20lbs+ from the tail of the 848/1098/1198. This radically increases torque/weight ratio and more radically increases the feel of lightness and ‘flickability’, because the weight loss is from so high away from the center of mass.
134DD notes:The 134DD can be used with either stock or Termi ECUs, however Double Dog Moto has developed a specific engine map for the Nemesis ECU to fully tap the power gain available from the extra breathing the megaphone provides. This map is available for download for anyone with the Nemesis ECU, and would only need dyno modification for those in high altitudes or with significant engine modifications. * Removable cap for repacking the baffles – important for race bikes. * Additional restrictor insert included for particularly quiet track limits. Easily installed and removed. * Megaphone and 2-1 junction comes with all stainless steel mounting hardware and instructions for installation. * For race/track use only. Like all race exhaust systems, the 134DD does not comply with emissions and sound laws in some states. As a guide to the sound level, the 134DD was developed to be just within the 103dB limit at Infineon Raceway in CA (measured a long way from the bike) - i.e. loud! * Please specify stock or Termi headers when ordering. * Hear a clip of the 134DD from the 2009 MotoGP Ducati Island Coming February 2010!
